Natalie talks with Danny Scully, owner-operator of Mountain Madre Mexican Kitchen & Agave Bar, about vegan queso, tequila by the barrel, and the restaurant’s new gluten-free menu options.

“Everything’s prepared fresh every day,” he says. “And our seafood comes in fresh every other day directly from the North Carolina coast.”

With a newly expanded menu that includes vegan and gluten-free options, plus an extensive bar menu, there really is something for everyone at Mountain Madre. Danny even tells how he and his wife travel to Mexico for the genuine mezcals on the menu. “It’s a big variety,” he says. “That’s why it’s called an agave bar.”
